Kiddo's First Actual Halloween!

*plops down with her to do lists and a sigh*

So..took 5 years, but Destructoboy is finally interested in Halloween! We weren't entirely sure until about a week ago though. He likes watching Goosebumps and Scooby Doo, so we had to make sure it wasn't just the tv fare that is offered at this time of year. He has also been going on about Robots, Lasers and Monsters for over a month, so that wasn't really a trigger either.

He started pointing out different Jack-o-Lanterns that we have seen around, so, okay..he's interested.

Been out and about the past couple of days trying to get everything together for it.

Got some silver face paint, he has some grey clothes, and at the suggestion of a store employee, picked up a silver table cloth. Robot it is..if he really wants to be a Monster Robot that Shoots Lasers, no problem! I also got him a little fiber optic light stick that would double nicely for lasers.

Might not take him out around Trick or Treating all that much, but he should have fun dressing up anyway.

I have no idea how many kids we are going to get, but we are in a school area and our apartment complex is open, so I bought $20 worth of candy just in case. Good work out carrying that home!

We also carved the Jack-o-Lantern tonight! Hubby drew a couple of pumpkin styles on a piece of paper, and then asked which eyes, nose and mouth Destrutoboy wanted. I forgot how messy scrapping out pumpkins is. *chuckles* Good thing I picked up a cheap plastic tablecloth with a halloween theme on it.

Still don't have anything to dress myself up as, and I wanted to see about getting one of those paper skeletons that hangs down to put on the door, but we are mostly set.

..I think.

Kiddo's first day at school! Ack!

It was Destructoboy's first day of school today! He was so excited about going, he refused breakfast and even chocolate milk! Then he kept pointing to his backpack to get me to put it on, but we were about 15-20 minutes ahead of having to go to wait for the bus. I tried to prolong it, but he just put the bag on himself and kept inching towards the door, occasionally coming back to gesture me to come or even get behind me to push me towards it. I finally acquiesced, about 10 minutes before I intended to leave. *chuckles* So..we waited there for the bus for about 15 minutes. The driver is very nice and had Gabe buckled in nicely. So far I have had no phone calls, so I imagine the day is without incident.

I went into the office with Hubby, (had to deliver some chocolate chip cookies to some silly little art director), and then left to my own devices for about...oh...6 hours.. I filled it with a trip to Starbucks to complete my yuppy impersonation, and a trip to Target to disabuse myself of my yuppy impersonation. That and after about 3 cups of coffee (1 while waiting for the bus, one at home and then the one from starbucks), I had to access facilities.

So..I am home with a clock, some batteries, a birthday card for my mom, some exercise vids for myself (pilates for toning and back strengthening, and tai chi for overall well being), a Christmas gift for Gabe (that's 2 so far for him! 3 people bought for, yay!), and a few more assorted items that I cannot recall, but will when I go to hide the gift.

It didn't stop me from the occasional heart stopping moment of going "Where'd Destructoboy go?", then realizing he was at school and it is alright, I don't have to be attached to my child every waking moment of the day and it is just the natural mother instinct kicking in. Weird, weird feeling...well..except to any parent that has spent the majority of the days with their child and then suddenly don't have one in the house for a few hours.

Now to get some chores done, and pick him up from the bus in a little over an hour!

Save me from the cute!

I have gotten addicted to Ponystars.

Here is an example of the cute:
Photobucket

That is my stallion, he is rather popular with the ladies. Although he does need to rest for 7 days between breedings. I can go and knock up my other pretty ponies who are female.

Save me! Or come join me! Yeah thats it! Come join me in my madness!

Double Credit Weekend!

Spam, spam spam spam..

Okay no, this isn't a Monty Python skit. It is straight spam from me, to you.

IMVU is having a double credit weekend and I was going to see if people were generous enough to sign up, check it out and provide me with some submission fees for my developing.

(Yeah..I'm such a slut)

This will be short

As much as I am sure you want to read about all the fascinating things I have been doing since my last post, I have decided that I would rather you read about someone else.

(Sorry Maven, love you, but not you this time.)

I want to show you a woman who, through her blog, displays a strength of heart and character that is rare to find. She is almost brutally honest at times, more with herself than others. Even if you do not believe as she does, her words are filled with a love and caring for all who read. Her stories are a cautionary tale of the depths a human spirit can go. I see them also as a vision of triumph. To show how well a spirit can come back, to rise like a phoenix from the ashes. This takes strength. Of love. Of spirit.

Good for you girl!

I made it!

At least the title is hopeful of me finishing a blog post. I should take a page out of Maven's book and leave the window up and finish it another time. Of course, by then I would have totally forgotten what I was writing about and wander off into a different topic ala Monty Python.

*and now for something completely different!*

A side diversion of mine I have picked up in the past 3 days. KnightFight! Okay..so its one of those you send a link to all your friends (suckers?), they sign up and you get a small bonus. Okay..no biggie. So..I sign up. Find out a little about this and what you do with it. Nice thing about it, is it doesn't take much time to actually 'play' and is totally browser based. Nothing to download or anything.

So..you are a knight, you have the choice of going good or evil. You can go on missions for an hour a day. Missions last 10 mins long. Alright..start one, go do other things, come back. "You have earned # gold and 1 experience point" Neat. So..do that 6 times. Then there are longer missions you can get through the tavern. These last an hour to 12 hours. So..start one and forget it. You can also if you are so inclined have one on one battles with other knights. If you win, you loot some of their gold. If they win, they get some of yours. The actual battle is a summary you get based on your skills and stats, fairly rudimentary, but not bad. You have to wait 15 minutes before you can find another fight, so again you have time to do other things.

In other news, doctors appointment tomorrow, IMVU developing still happening, but mostly spending time trying to keep the boy (Maven/Jobthingy help me out with a catchy name already!) out of trouble. Who knew such a small, cute looking kid could be so destructive.
