First Cosmic Adventure - Success!

Okay..so..I know this sounds a little..hmm..kinky. The title at least, but I assure (console?) you readers out there that there was nothing untoward about my 'Cosmic Adventure'.

For those of you that do not live in the Ottawa area Cosmic Adventures (www.cosmicadventures.ca) is a huge playground. Tubes, tunnels, ball pits, cafeteria, etc.

I was very fortunate to have a Veteran Cosmopolitan, Maven, along with me (See..she is really a SAHM, a very pregnant one, but she can be cultured too! ...and she gets me great coffee..so..)

"Maven, sign me up for a 'I put out for lattes' t-shirt"

My son, all 3 1/2 yr, darting madness of him, had a blast. ...I think... I didn't really actually see him much, and I don't think he much cared. He just started going with gusto once he hit the floor. He was so eager to start he was trying to find out how the gates worked to get in. After about 2 1/2 hours of play, the boy decided he had enough and Maven kindly fetched him for me, which is no small feat for a woman that far along in pregnancy. I suppose it made sense though, since I had her 3 yr old just fascinated with going around the games room and playing all the games he could.

My son...not so much into the games. He liked the lights and sounds, and when we tried to get him to play one where you whack the heads of alligators (something that any young boy is -perfect- for), he just watched amusedly while Maven and I went a whacking away at these gator heads.

Thankfully, it meant a good nap for the both of us. He was even so tired that he went to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Which gave me time to read my book (yay!)

So..Chapter 33 read! Progress! (..and about 300 more pages to go)

Been a while..

..since I posted last.

I just find that I am so tired by the end of the day and my brain has shut down enough I can't remember what I did to type about it.

Of course, that doesn't stop the brain from kicking in again when I am lying down to go over the forgotten events and upcoming activities.

You would think that I have a lot to catch up on by this point, but..as always..it seems to slip away when I sit in front of this screen with the cursor blinking.

Well, I suppose I can start with the reading. ...or lack thereof..

After about a week of nothing, I actually took the time to read about 3 more chapters. In the meantime, the man has consumed another 3 or 4 books. Two from the Earth's children series, he is working on book 4 now, and has already taken out book 5 for when he finishes. While waiting for our book request to come in, he read a few more star trek novels as well.

I on the other hand, renewed two books. I am reading one and the other was just so it didn't go overdue. *laughs* Which is rather amusing since the library is 3 blocks away. Just couldn't guarantee that the boy would be good enough to get out of the house that day.

I have 2 more renewals left, so I imagine I will get a chance to read it before all that.

...will write more later. Or try at least.

Good times...

Book status: page 293

Nothing much to report, but figured I would throw something down.

Good weather today (29C, low humidity, bit of a breeze), Coffee with a good friend (ex-boyfriend actually, but turned into a good friend), Good food (chicken with a bit of basil vinagrette, pretty good), Good thoughts..

All in all..makes me realize I have a good life.

On a forum I frequent, someone posted the question: "If you could have only ONE wish for your entire life, what would it be?"

My answer was: "That my kids grow up healthy and happy"

I don't think that will be a problem. They are wonderful kids.

Ahhh! Thoughts!

Okay..I know I didn't post about my lovely outing with the hot pregnant lady. I typed up 3 words, got distracted and then when I finally had time hours later, I was too tired to write anything.

We had a great day! Well aside from the lack of sleep I was suffering before it. Coffee made it all better..the promise of coffee made it even more...better...

Took the kids to McDonalds for an early lunch. Generally..not the best food, but was great for the kids. My son of course, decided that he would rather play all the time than eat, but that was okay. Happy meals come in a bag for a reason! Maven's two kids were wonderful angels in McDs.

Then we headed across the parking lot to the grocery store for some snacks for the afternoon. (Heh heh..I had her now..she wasn't getting away from me for hours!). Something I have learned long ago. Even if I am getting 1 item, take a cart. Place kid in cart. Less headaches. So..my boy happily munched on his forgotten meal, while sitting in the cart, which left us just two to watch (not too bad really). 'Gutsy' wanted to help, so we let him pick out some juice. It went well in my book.

Then the long awaited and long adored coffee. (Okay, wasn't that long, but..when you are talking coffee...it was long enough.) We had decided on Fourbucks. I had said I would pay previously. She resisted as I had bought the snacks. I handed her a $5 with the justification that "If we are going to Fourbucks, then that pays for mine and you have a buck to go towards yours!" Wonderful woman she is..but I am by far more hard headed than she. (Probably why I get along with her so well and love her muchly)

To my awfully messy apartment we went for towels, blanket, sunscreen and all the much needed paraphenalia required to occupy 3 kids and 2 adults, which turned into 3 adults as the man decided to come along. The Maven, bless her everyloving heart, said nary a word about the state of disarray. Cooler found (for all the goodies), outside toys gathered, we trekked out..the 2 minute walk to the park beside our building.

The nice thing about the park by my building is it has a water...thing... Not entirely sure what the proper term for it is. We will just call it the 'rainbow of happy children' (It's shaped like a rainbow). Kids play, kids have fun, kids play some more, kids get tired, parents chat, parents chase kids....who knew a pregnant lady could shuffle so fast! At the end..we had a bunch of tired kids, a bunch of tired adults and a wonderful day.

It was great and I am definately going to do this again sometime.

Book status: Somewhere on the way to Whitebridge

Intellectual thoughts: Blue collar comedy tour and Atlantis (duh..*points to title* Actually..a friend has reacquainted himself with his passion for it, which has reinstigated mine. Fun times!)

To Dream of Pregnant Ladies...

Okay..so this may sound like a weird title. But...I have a playdate somewhat planned for tomorrow and I intend on enjoying it! So..chances are I will dream about my wonderful friend and her two darling gremli...children. (Her fault, not mine!)

I had mentioned the aforementioned playdate (*pause* Uhh..works in my mind..) to a few people. Childless apparently (or perverted), because they all kept going 'playdate? what's that?' So I told them of the grand art of two or more women getting together with their respective offspring and well..playing. For the kids it is a great chance for them to communicate with their peers, to learn valuable life lessons and social interaction, to explore the limitless possibilities of.... Umm.. They get to play with other kids and hopefully not beat the crap out of each other or drive their mothers crazy.

For the mothers it is a a time to communicate with their peers, to learn valuable...wait..nevermind.. Although the first part is mostly true! We get to talk to people on an adult level, bitch about what is going wrong in our lives, sympathize with those rants and generally just come out of it happier to have such friends....or tired and cranky, but thankful to have such understanding friends. Either way..it is a wonderful thought and one I am looking forward to.

Reading is fun!

..just wish I had time to do it more often.

So..I have decided to document my literary accomplishments here. I managed to read up to page 132 in the first book of the Wheel of Time series.

Heard a lot of people talking about it, raving about it, referencing it, etc, decided I might as well step up and finally read it myself.

Of course, this was just because our local library didn't have the second book of 'Earth's Children' (aka Clan of the Cave Bear series) available at the time.

The library does have this wonderful system that you can request books, they get it from another branch and you go get it!

So..while the man has since read, the second book (Valley of Horses), and read the 11th book in the Wheel of Time series (even though it is a prequel), I am still at...page...132.

Somehow I think The Valley of Horses will have to be returned for others to enjoy, then rerequested in the weeks, months, or years..that it will take me to finish my current book.

I could read this book rather easily, forgoing sleep, food and family time, but..as a concientious mother I had to attempt the 'reading until 4am because it is the only time I have to read' ploy. Hmm...not going to do that again I think. Didn't work out so well.

So..it is now 12am..and I have my book and I am debating 'To Read or Not to Read?' that is the question, to which the answer will determine my wakefulness tomorrow.

Status: Wheel of Time series - Book 1 (The Eye of the World) - Page 132/657 (Not including the Glossary)

~*blink* What the heck?!? It has a glossary??!!?~
